RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE INTERVALS -- Though I personally do not offer maintenance or repair services, it is good to know that your Alfa Romeo is performing at its very best, and giving you the driving experience you bought it for. Yearly and periodic maintenance will help you get the most out of your Alfa and this page provides you with some guidelines. Every Alfa is different, the work needed for your Alfa could be higher or lower, and you always have options for improving your Alfa besides just servicing or repairing it. Click on the type of service you are interested in below for a description.
Short Service
Annual Service
Standard Materials List
All repairs must be performed within EPA guide-lines unless your car is for off-road use only. High compression pistons, cams, etc. will make your car impossible to pass Smog, so get an earlier car or Don't Do It!
SHORT SERVICE
To be performed every 3-5,000 miles
Change oil and oil filter
Fill trans, diff, coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid, steering box
Inspect brakes, front suspension, exhaust, driveshaft, rear suspension, fuel system
Look for fluid leaks
Lubricate undercarriage, underhood, doors, trunk, fuel fill, conv. top
Check all tire pressures
Service battery
ANNUAL SERVICE
To be performed every 12,000 miles
Basically the same as the Short Service plus:
Change trans, diff, brake fluid, clutch fluid
Drain and flush coolant
Ignition tune-up (all new parts)
Reset valve clearances, cam timing, tension chain
Replace air and fuel filters
Reset inj. or carbs as applicable, O2 sensor as applicable
The following is a list of some of the standard materials and brands that have a proven track record for use in Alfa Romeos. Please note that there are other fine products on the market today, and as technology advances, there will be more. The list presented here should be used with that in mind. Consult your mechanic, and do some research on your own! Ultimately you are in control of your vehicle and what goes in or on it.
